How it all started...
We were trudging along the AT on a section hike when, predictably, it began to pour. And, as luck would have it, I had my period.
Nature called, and I had to take a bio break. What should have been a quick and easy stop turned into a frantic search for my tampon, all while rain pelted me sideways getting everything soaked.
Afterwards, I felt frustrated and downright grumpy. It was then that Dani and I agreed: there has to be a better way.
Not just a period product
Becca used to make fun of me for carrying my body wipes, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer in plastic bags. I never liked how gross the bags would get or that they were made of plastic.
Even with two separate bags, cleans and dirties, I found it difficult to stay organized and locate them in my pack.
During the rest of our rainy section hike, Becca and I came up with a plan. By the end of the hike, we were business partners, knowing that we could do better than plastic bags covered in sharpie or duct tape.
Let's maintain clean trails and eliminate any obstacles, including hygiene-related ones, so everyone can enjoy the outdoors.
We Like to Walk
We consider ourselves fortunate to call Vermont home, especially being so close to both the Appalachian and Long Trail. We've spent many years bonding while hiking the trails of Vermont’s Green Mountains and New Hampshire’s Whites.
Being that we are both strong advocates for leaving the outdoors how you found it and limiting our environmental footprint, we wanted to Leave Zero Trace. But there's that one BIG question -- where do you put YourYuckies?!
